Students who researched the smoking ban wrote to the Dept. of Health to get a copy of the legislation, followed the issue in the media, conducted surveys among local people and local publicans and restaurateurs. We found that 60% of the people surveyed support the ban but only 40% believe it will be a success. Some local business people fear that the law will have a bad effect on their business.
